MTV Brasil: Letís build it right here!
Tower Bridge TV Studios was in great demand during the 2012 Olympics as broadcasters from around the world descended on London to find suitable bases with great views and broadcast facilities for their Olympic coverage. But with finite studio space to offer, what could Trickbox TV do? Build a whole new studio, of course.
MTV Brasil was looking for a venue to produce a daily comedy show during the Games. With the existing studio space already booked, Trickbox TV suggested converting part of the open plan office on the same floor into a full broadcast HD studio with a gallery/production control room, a post-production facility and a separate stand-up position. The client agreed, and the Trickbox team designed and built the entire facility in under two weeks, working closely with the building owners, More London, to integrate the build with the existing services including air conditioning and electrics.
The MTV Brasil crew shot on location during the day and edited VTs to go into the main show, which was produced in the studio in the afternoons. The whole show was then edited and FTP’d to Brazil for transmission that night. The Trickbox team provided technical support throughout.
Following the closure of the Games, Trickbox deconstructed the studio and recommissioned the office in a weekend.
