Harnessing the Crowd Factor

How’s this for post-modern: a web-based show about crowd funding has been produced thanks to crowd funding.

Max Keiser and Simon Dixon are the presenters and also the brains behind the show, named Crowd Factor. Keiser is the American broadcaster behind the crowd-funding site StartJoin and presenter of the weekly finance show The Keiser Report broadcast on Russia Today, while Dixon is the founder of BnkToTheFuture.com, the online investment platform where Crowd Factor guests pitch investors on the platform for funding.

Crowd Factor reports on crowd-funded projects listed on StartJOIN and Bnktothefuture.com. Projects that are seeking funding include investigative journalism, activism and cryptocurrencies, as well as community projects, sports and arts-related activities.

With an initial target of £10,000, the Crowd Factor project raised over £30,000 which enabled them to commission Trickbox TV to produce ten episodes.

Trickbox TV, which works regularly with Keiser on The Keiser Report, provided full production services from planning to shoot to post-production. Each episode was shot on location around London, with a small and efficient crew. The production also brought in international guest speakers via Skype.

The show is due to be released on Russia Today’s YouTube channel, and there are plans to make further episodes if funding is received.
